The Hrabovská Valley, long a favourite with families, hikers, and nature lovers, now offers something new: an adventure trail to the waterfalls, much like Slovakia’s famous gorges. The route is suitable for all ages and requires no special equipment or fitness. The most striking of them is playfully named the Ice-Cream Waterfall.
The trail features:
- wooden footbridges and walkways;
- stainless-steel ladders leading up to the waterfalls;
- adventurous crossings for youngsters;
- rest areas along the way;
- a direct passage over the Hrabovský Brook;
- a welcome way to cool down on hot summer days;
- beautiful scenery throughout.
It’s a one-way trail, about a kilometre long, and ends where it joins the Bear Trail (Medvedia cesta) at a spot called Bear’s Den, roughly halfway along that nature path.
The trail may end here, but the adventure certainly doesn’t. From the Hrabovská Valley you can head:
- to Malinô Brdo, either by cable car or on foot;
- back down from Malinô Brdo on scooters or go-karts, finishing at the cable car valley station;
- to the UNESCO-listed village of Vlkolínec, reached after a short walk from the cable car and manageable even for families with children; or
- to the Hrabovská Reservoir, where you can rest or take part in water and adrenaline sports.
The area around Hrabovo also offers a wide network of cycle routes, hiking trails, and other attractions for all ages. Remarkably, it’s just a few minutes from the centre of Ružomberok. The greenery and beauty of Liptov’s landscape here are sure to impress.
