Discover Demänovská Valley – a place full of

Forget the idea that Demänovská Valley is only a winter paradise for skiers. In summer it becomes a vibrant holiday destination, with attractions for children, parents, active travellers, and anyone looking for tranquillity in nature. Whether you are planning a holiday or just a weekend in Liptov, Demänovská Valley will surprise you with its variety of attractions and the energy you sense at every turn. Towering over it all is the second-highest peak of the Low Tatras: the majestic Chopok (2,024 m).
Take the cable car from Biela Púť to the Rotunda below Chopok (2,004 m). The trip is manageable even with a pushchair and rewards you with spectacular views. For older children we recommend an easy ridge walk, either towards Ďumbier or in the other direction to Dereše. Another great idea is a gentle stroll along the Chopok Panoramic Trail, full of information and interactive games, suitable even for younger children or less experienced walkers.
Halfway to Chopok, or on the way back, it is worth stopping at the transfer station at Priehyba. During the summer holidays, you can also visit the highest-situated shepherd’s hut and several attractions here. At Priehyba, you can see the rare Valachian sheep, the only breed able to graze the steep ski slopes, and children will enjoy the marble run. You can also fill in the “Sheep’s Journey Diary” with your children, which is good fun with a reward at the end.
After a day in the mountains, don’t miss the tubing, trampolines, and miniature trains at the Biela Púť cable car station.
A walk around Vrbické Pleso
One of the most beautiful mountain lakes in Slovakia is Vrbické Pleso, and you should be sure to go there when visiting Jasná. Around the lake, you’ll find a playground, benches to rest on, and a pleasant mountain path suitable for pushchairs. You can also stop for a snack at the Mikulášska Chalet.

The Demänovská Caves are always a good idea, whether on hot days or when it’s rainy.
Just remember to dress warmly: you’ll be chilly in shorts and a T-shirt as the temperature inside is a constant 7 °C or so.
Visit Demänovská Ice Cave and, above all, Demänovská Cave of Liberty. The stunning sinter formations and magical underground world are sure to captivate adventurers of all ages.

- Tarzánia in Jasná – Záhradky – a rope park for children and budding climbers
- Žiarce Bobsleigh Track (Pavčina Lehota) – the steepest bobsleigh track in Slovakia, but still suitable for children. You’ll also find plenty of other attractions here for both young and old, so you’re sure to have fun…
Fun and relaxation near Liptovský Mikuláš
At the entrance to Demänovská Valley lies Demänová Resort, full of life with entertainment, climbing walls, extra-large trampolines, a 3D maze, and bike trails with stunning views. It’s the perfect place for an active family, and in summer it also offers water fun with pools and slides.

Hire an e-bike in Liptovský Mikuláš – there are several hire points, including two on the way to Demänovská Valley (at Demänová Resort and by the OMV petrol station), where you can also enjoy a discount with the Liptov Region Card and explore the valley and its surroundings from a new perspective, especially if you have older children who can manage longer or more demanding routes.
