From Prague straight to the Tatras from October

„“It’s not a country, it’s a garden!“ 🇨🇿

Czechs love the Tatras. And we know why. Prague may not get its direct connection until October, but that’s still a great time for hiking or the perfect wellness break, as well as a chance to get in the mood for winter and Slovakia’s best skiing in Jasná. From 25 October 2026, the Prague – Poprad-Tatry route will operate three times a week, on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

That opens up plenty of possibilities for weekends and even longer stays. Just a few days are enough to enjoy the mountains, thermal baths, water parks, caves, local food, and a wide range of outdoor activities.

Autumn in Liptov – the best views of the year, colourful mountains, hiking, and wellness

Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of year in Liptov. The mountains gradually turn autumnal, and the countryside is perfect for days out and hiking. The views of the Tatras at this time of year are some of the finest you’ll see all year.

Head for some of Liptov’s iconic peaks, including Chopok, Ďumbier, Baranec, and Veľký Choč. There’s also the Demänovská Valley, the Prosiecka and Kvačianska valleys, Liptovský Ján and the Jánska Valley, the area around Liptovská Mara, and the Čutkovská and Hrabovská valleys near Ružomberok. Some of the biggest draws are the views from the higher reaches of the Low and Western Tatras. Active visitors have plenty of hiking and cycling routes to choose from, while e-bikes put tougher terrain and mountain climbs within reach too.

And when the temperature drops after a day outdoors? It’s time for wellness.

Liptov is ideal for combining an active day with some proper relaxation. There are thermal water parks, wellness centres, and spas to choose from. Spend the day in the mountains and the evening soaking in warm thermal water, or simply plan a peaceful wellness break. And if fun and thrills are more your thing, the water parks have plenty of those too. The slides at Tatralandia and Bešeňová are just the ticket…

Bad weather? Liptov has a plan B

An autumn stay in Liptov doesn’t have to depend on the weather. There are plenty of attractions to enjoy even on a rainy or chilly day.

Visit Demänovská Cave of Liberty or Stanišovská Cave, where you can even venture underground with a head torch. Spend time at one of Liptov’s water parks or wellness centres, try a beer spa or spa resort, learn more about traditional culture in museums, galleries, or the open-air museum, enjoy the local food, or try some of the region’s other attractions.

That’s what makes Liptov so special. In one region, you get mountains, water, relaxation, adventure, and experiences for everyone.

Know where winter begins? In Liptov. Jasná opens its slopes on the last weekend of November, so you can go straight from autumn into winter.

Winter gives Liptov a completely different atmosphere. Snow settles over the mountains, and the season that skiers and winter-sports fans have been waiting for gets under way.

At the heart of the action is Jasná on Chopok, Slovakia’s largest ski resort, with plenty for beginners, experienced skiers, and snowboarders.

There are several ski-equipment hire shops, many of them right in the hotels, where visitors arriving by air can hire everything they need. This coming winter, Jasná will also have a new piste and more than 51 kilometres of excellent ski runs on the northern and southern sides of Chopok. Add the slopes at Malinô Brdo and several smaller ski resorts across Liptov, and you have everything you need to enjoy winter to the full.

A winter holiday can also include a soak in the thermal waters, some wellness, a cave visit, and family attractions.

And once you’ve taken off your ski boots after a day on the slopes, the relaxation can continue at Tatralandia, Bešeňová, or Lúčky Spa. Winter in Liptov doesn’t have to be all about skiing.

Ideálne miesto na zimný pobyt s rodinou

Liptov is a great choice for families with children too. While parents enjoy the mountains and wellness, children can look forward to water attractions, amusement parks, organised activities, ski schools, and plenty of other ways to have fun.

One of the region’s biggest strengths is its variety. You don’t have to do the same thing every day. Ski in Jasná one day, spend the next soaking in thermal water, then choose between skiing at Malinô Brdo, night skiing on the longest piste in Jasná, or heading underground into Liptov’s caves.

That variety makes Liptov a great choice for a week-long holiday, a short autumn or winter break, or a long weekend.

Liptov is closer than you think

New flights from Gdansk and Prague make Liptov even easier to reach for Czech and Polish visitors, who are among the region’s most frequent international guests. Fly into Poprad-Tatry and in less than an hour by car you can be in Liptov, beneath Chopok, beside Liptovská Mara, or relaxing in a thermal pool. Hire a car in Poprad, arrange a transfer through your accommodation, or take the train from Poprad and then continue on by bus.

Whether you’re after autumn hiking, a weekend packed with experiences, a wellness break, or a winter skiing holiday, Liptov has plenty to offer. The Tatras are well worth the trip.

Polish and Czech visitors, we’d love to welcome you! Come and experience the Tatras and Liptov from a new perspective – without the long drive, and with mountains, water, memorable experiences, and Slovak hospitality all within easy reach.
