Exploring Liptov with the Tourist Pass – three days packed with adventure

Liptov has a magic all its own – high mountains, clear rivers, traditional villages, and places where time seems to stand still. What makes it truly unforgettable, though, are the hidden treasures you might otherwise overlook. The Ružomberok Tourist Pass helps you to uncover them.

The pass guides you to places worth visiting – from majestic waterfalls and scenic viewpoints to historical landmarks and traditional wooden architecture. Most of the locations are accessible to children, making it the perfect family adventure. And when you complete the “tourist challenges”, you’ll earn a small reward.

If you’re not sure where to begin, here’s some inspiration for a three-day stay around Ružomberok – a trip that will be full of memorable experiences thanks to your tourist pass.

After arriving in the region, we began with a delicious lunch and bought our tourist passes at the information centre in Ružomberok. We then embarked on a series of short but rewarding stops:

We spent the evening enjoying good food and looking through our first photos from the trip.

We began the day at the Hrabovo Waterfalls – a short trail with numerous bridges and rope crossings that surprised us with its charm. From there, we continued along the Giants’ Trail into Čutkovská Valley, stopped for lunch, and then  followed the nature trail Known Unknown: Čutkovská Valley to Jamišný Waterfall.

On the way back, we visited the Lesanka Forest School and its animal enclosure. All ages loved the Obrova Žinka zipline , and we ended the day with dinner in Hrabovo.

The final day was dedicated to hiking. From the Hotel GS, we set off for Rakytov, one of the most scenic points to view the peaks in the Veľká Fatra mountains. Along the way we crossed mountain meadows, stopped to recharge at a mountain chalet, and continued through Skalná Alpa. The final ascent to the summit was a challenge, but the reward – a 360° panorama – was worth the effort.

After returning, we enjoyed a late lunch in the hotel restaurant, then stopped by the information centre to stamp our pass and collect a well-earned souvenir magnet.
