Mountain insurance
Liptov is a mountain destination and we always recommend visitors and tourists not to forget about insurance to the mountains.
According to the valid law of Slovak Republic about Mountain Rescue Service (HZS), the injured person located in a mountain area is obliged to pay HZS costs associated with rescue activities or searches related to it (this obligation does not apply to underage persons – children and persons who do not have legal capacity).
To cover the risks associated with the possible costs caused by the HZS intervention, the visitor takes out commercial insurance called “mountain travel insurance”. Mountain insurance covers the technical part of the intervention, mainly activities related to the search, rescue, transport of the injured, or transport of the remains of a person who died in the mountains.

Exclusions from mountain insurance
- non-compliance with the instructions of the mountain rescue service staff and also if the visitor does not follow the information and warning signs or does move outside marked hiking trails
- intentional abuse of mountain rescue service or so-called unnecessary searches, which are considered to be searches triggered as a result of`s misrepresentation of the place, route and estimated time of his return to the person to whom he should have reported these facts
- events that occurred in connection with riots or other crime committed in the mountains by the policyholder, even under the influence of alcohol
