Current COVID-19 measures

How to vacation in Liptov?

Loosening of restrictions = more possibilities = more enjoyable vacation

The conditions for the winter holidays have improved for the visitors of Liptov. Basically everyone is allowed to ski and accommodation facilities are permitted to operate with no capacity restrictions.

Summary of currently effective COVID-19 measures in the Liptov region (valid  since January 19, 2022):

Face covering

FFP2 respirators are mandatory outside (when people are less than 2 m apart from each other) and in the interiors. Wearing a FFP2 respirator is also mandatory for the entire duration of outdoor mass events, even when people are more than 2 m apart from each other.

Cable cars and lifts

Cable cars and lifts may operate in the OTP regime without capacity limits. Wearing a FFP2 respirator is mandatory in/on ski lifts and in queues. Visitors are also required to keep a distance of 2 meters from each other.

SKI &AQUA BUS

SKI & AQUA BUS runs according to the schedule published at: https://www.visitliptov.sk/planovanie-dovolenky/doprava-na-liptove/

Wearing a FFP2 face mask is mandatory when travelling by SKI & AQUA BUS.

Accommodation

In case the accommodation provider chooses to accommodate only the people falling under the OP+ regime, there are no capacity restrictions..

Accommodation facilities may also operate in the OTP regime. This only applies to the accommodation provided in relation to the performance of work, visiting a healthcare facility, and attending ski or snowboard training courses as part of an educational process (persons under 18 years and 2 months of age). AG test can be performed under the supervision of a school staff member within the educational process.

Hotels’ restaurants are open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Restaurants section. Wellness is open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Wellness section.

Water parks, pools and swimming pools

Water parks in Liptov are allowed to be open in the OP regime without capacity limits.

Wellness centres and spas

Wellness centre and spas are allowed to be open in the OP+ regime. The capacity is limited to a maximum of 50 people or 1 person per 15 m2.

Restaurants

Restaurants may operate in the OP regime (consumption on the spot) with the following restrictions in place: a maximum of four people can sit at one table inside the restaurants except for members of the same household. Seating must have a 2 metre distance from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Restaurants operating in the „základ“ (all people) regime can only provide take-away and delivery services with no limitations on opening hours.

Fitness centres

Fitness centres are allowed to be open in the OP+ regime, with the capacity limited to 50 customers or 1 customer per 15 m2. It is required to maintain records of customers.

Museums and galleries

Museums and galleries may operate in the OP regime, with thecapacity limited to 1 person per 15 square meters.

Cinemas

Cinemas are allowed to be open in the OP regime, with the capacity limited to 100 people or 50% of the space capacity.

Stores and services

Essential stores and services operate in the “Základ” regime. Other stores and services are allowed to operate in the OP regime. 

Mass events

Mass events are permitted to be organized only in the OP regime. Wearing a FFP2 respirator is mandatory for the entire duration of the event. The following limits apply:

Important notice: As the measures are being updated frequently, it is advisable to ensure the facility or the attraction you are visiting is open and what the opening hours are.

All visitors entering the country must be vaccinated!


Definitions of OP, OP+, OTP and ZÁKLAD regimes:

OP+ regime

The OP+ regime includes:

OP regime

The OP regime includes people who have been fully vaccinated and people who have recovered from COVID-19.

OTP regime

The OTP regime includes: :

„ZÁKLAD“ (BASIS) regime

People falling under the „ZÁKLAD“ regime are all people, regardless of their immune status.

A person is considered fully vaccinated when:

A person who has recovered from COVID-19 not more than 180 days ago is a person who can prove recovery by means of a positive PCR test, in case of children under 12 years old, recovery can also be proved by a confirmation from a paediatrician issued on the basis of a positive antigen test that was taken in a mobile vaccination centre and issued by 15 November 2021.


Traveling to Slovakia

Rules applicable to arrival from all countries:

The vaccinated person

The vaccinated person does not have to be tested, he only has to prove that he is vaccinated (certificate of vaccination – GreenPass, or national vaccination certificate with QR code; it does not matter from which country you came from; does not enter quarantine;

  • 14 days after the 2nd dose of a vaccine with a two-dose schedule (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca), valid for 1 year
  • 21 days after a single dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson), valid for 1 year
  • after overcoming covid and 14 days after receiving the 1st dose of vaccine within 180 days after overcoming, valid for 1 year

Unvaccinated person

Unvaccinated persons – are obliged to enter the 14-day quarantine, which they can shorten after a negative PCR test no earlier than the 5th day of arrival (they pay for themselves). A 5-day quarantine is mandatory even if the person at the border proves a negative PCR test.

Children

  • Children under the age of 12 years and 2 months follow the same conditions as their parents. They do not need to register in eHranice.

Monitoring – green zone

Face covering

Everyone must wear a mask or a face covering indoors. The obligation to wear a face covering also applies to outdoor mass events.

Accommodation

No limits on the number of people per room. Hotels’ restaurants are open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Restaurants section. Wellness is open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Wellness section.

Wellness and spas

In case entry is restricted only to people falling under the OP category  and people falling under the OTP category, no restrictions apply. In case entry is allowed to all people, including unvaccinated people and people with no COVID-19 test results, wellnesses and spas are allowed to operate at a maximum capacity of 50 per cent or 1 000 people.

Water parks, pools and swimming pools

Open with no restrictions in both the districts. A negative COVID-19 test result is not required. Wearing a face mask is mandatory at the entrance and in changing rooms.

Current measures in Tatralandia and in the Bešeňová Water Park.

Cable cars

Open in strict compliance with COVID-19 tourism restrictions. Hygiene measures must be observed.

Current measures in the resort Jasná Nízke Tatry.

Restaurants

Open with no restrictions.

Fitness centres

  • Can operate at full capacity provided only fully vaccinated people and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease are allowed entry,
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, the total number of people permitted at a facility cannot exceed 50 or 1 customer per 15 square meters,
  • In case entry is allowed to all people, including unvaccinated and untested, the total number of people permitted at a facility cannot exceed 25.

Mass events

Mass events are permitted under the following conditions:

  • in case entry is restricted only to the OP category, no restrictions apply,
  • in case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, standing areas are limited to 50% capacity and indoor and outdoor seated areas are limited to 75% capacity. If the venue capacity cannot be defined, the maximum capacity for outdoor events is 5 000 people and the maximum capacity for indoor events is 2 500 people,
  • in case entry is allowed to all people, the following capacity limit restrictions apply: up to 50 per cent of the standing capacity, up to 75 per cent of the outdoor and indoor seating capacity, up to 1 000 people outdoors and up to 500 people indoors.

Stores and services

Open under hygiene requirements.

Museums, galleries and exhibition halls

Open under hygiene requirements.

ZOO and botanical gardens

Open with no restrictions.

Cinemas

Open with capacity restrictions. Consumption of food and beverage is allowed under some restrictions (look for mass events).

Vigilance – orange zone

Face covering

Everyone must wear a mask or a face covering indoors. The obligation to wear a face covering also applies to outdoor mass events.

Accommodation

  • In case entry is restricted only to fully vaccinated people and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease (OP), people falling under the OTP category, there are no capacity restrictions.
  • It is forbidden to provide accommodation to unvaccinated and untested people.

No limits on the number of people per room. Hotels’ restaurants are open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Restaurants section. Wellness is open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Wellness section.

Wellness and spas

  • In case entry is restricted only to people falling under the OP category, no restrictions apply.
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, wellnesses and spas are allowed to operate at a maximum capacity of 50 per cent or 1.000 people.
  • Unvaccinated and untested people are not allowed to enter.

Water parks, pools and swimming pools

  • Open to fully vaccinated people and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease (OP) with no restrictions.
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, capacity is limited to 50 per cent.
  • In case entry is allowed to all people, capacity is limited to a maximum of 10 people.

Current measures in Tatralandia and in the Bešeňová Water Park.

Cable cars

  • Cable cars and lifts are open to people falling under OP category and those falling under the OTP group with no restrictions.
  • In case entry is allowed to all people, including unvaccinated and untested, enclosed ski lifts cannot be used. Only the open ones are permitted.
  • Hygiene measures must be observed.

Current measures at the Jasná Nízke Tatry ski centre.

Restaurants

  • In case entry is allowed only to fully vaccinated people and people falling under the OTP category, the following capacity restrictions apply – indoors, a maximum of four people can sit at one table. If there are more than four people at one table, they must be members of one household. There must be a two-metre gap between tables. There are no restrictions outdoors,
  • In case restaurants are open to all people, only outdoor terraces can be open, with the capacity limited to a maximum of 10 people, provided 2 sides of the wall space is open.

Fitness

  • In case entry is restricted only to fully vaccinated people and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease (OP), fitness centres can operate at full capacity.
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, the total number of people permitted at a facility cannot exceed 20 or 1 customer per 15 square meters.
  • In case entry is allowed to all people, capacity is limited to max. 10 customers. It is required to maintain records of customers.

Mass events

Mass events are permitted under the following conditions:

  • In case entry is restricted only to people falling under the OP category, no restrictions apply.
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, standing areas are limited to 50% capacity and indoor seated areas are limited to 25% capacity. If the venue capacity cannot be defined, the maximum capacity for outdoor events is 1 000 people and the maximum capacity for indoor events is 500 people.
  • In case entry is allowed to all people, the following capacity restrictions apply: indoor seating capacity is limited to 25 per cent and outdoor capacity is limited to 50 per cent. The maximum number of people must, however, not exceed 200 people outdoors and 100 people indoors. It is required to maintain records of customers.

Stores and services

  • Open to all people with a density quotient of 1 customer per 15 square meters of the total store sales area.

Museums, galleries and exhibition halls

  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OP and th OTP category, no capacity restrictions apply.
  • In case entry is allowed to all people, only individual tours are allowed, with the capacity limited to 15 square meters per 1 visitor.

Cinemas

Cinemas follow the capacity limits established for mass events. Consumption of food and drinks is allowed under the following conditions:  a maximum of four people can sit at one table. If there are more than four people at one table, they must be members of one household. There must be a two-metre gap between tables.

1st warning level – red zone

Face covering

Everyone must wear a respirator mask indoors. Face covering is required outdoors and when attending mass events.

Accommodation

  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OP category, there are no capacity restrictions.
  • Accommodation facilities are not allowed to operate in the OTP (vaccinated, tested, recovered) regime, with the exception of quarantine facilities and the provision of work-related and long-term accommodation.
  • Accommodation facilities are not allowed to operate in the “all people” regime, with the exception of quarantine facilities and the provision of long-term accommodation.

Hotels’ restaurants are open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Restaurants section. Wellness centres are open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Wellness centres section.

  • In case wellness and spa services are provided by accommodation facilities and entry is restricted to fully vaccinated people and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease (OP) only, no restrictions apply. The capacity of other wellness and spa centres is limited to a maximum of 10 people.
  • Wellness centres and spas are not allowed to operate in the “all people” mode and people falling under the OTP category, including unvaccinated and untested people.

Water parks, pools and swimming pools

  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OP category, the maximum capacity is limited to 50 %.
  • Water parks, pools and swimming pools are not allowed to operate in the people falling under the OTP category and the “all people (basis)”  mode.

  • In case cable cars and lifts are open to people falling under the OP category only, open air lifts can operate with no restrictions. The maximum capacity of cable cars is limited to 50 %. They must be well ventilated and disinfected after each ride.

  • Shopping centres are only open for vaccinated people or people who have recovered from COVID-19 (OP).

Museums, galleries and exhibition halls

  • In case entry is restricted to fully vaccinated people and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease (OP) only, no capacity restrictions apply.
  • In case entry is not allowed to people falling under the OTP category and all people.

Cinemas

Cinemas can operate under the capacity limits:

  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OP category, capacity is limited to maximum 200 people and service providers are required to keep records of customers.
  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OTP category, capacity is limited to maximum 6 people.
  • Cinemas are not allowed to operate in the “all people (basis)” regime.
2nd warning level – burgundy zone

Face covering

Everyone must wear a respirator mask indoors. Face covering is mandatory in outdoor settings if the distance from other people is less than 2 metres.

Accommodation

  • Accommodation facilities providing accommodation only to people falling under the OP category are permitted to operate with no capacity restrictions.
  • Accommodation facilities are not allowed to operate in the OTP (vaccinated, tested, recovered) regime, with the exception of quarantine facilities and the provision of work-related and long-term accommodation.
  • Accommodation facilities are not allowed to operate in the “all people” regime, with the exception of quarantine facilities and the provision of long-term accommodation.

Water parks, pools and swimming pools

  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OP category only, the maximum capacity is limited to 25%.
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, capacity is limited to a maximum of 10 people.
  • Water parks, pools and swimming pools are not allowed to operate in the “all people (basis)” mode and to people falling under the OTP category.

Current measures at the Tatralandia and Bešeňová water parks.

Fitness centres

  • In case entry is restricted to fully vaccinated people and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease (OP) only, the total number of people permitted at a facility cannot exceed 20 or 1 customer per 15 square meters.
  • Fitness centres are not allowed to operate in the “OTP” and “all people (basis)” modes.

Mass events

Mass events are permitted under the following conditions:

  • In case entry is restricted  to people falling under the OP category only, capacity is limited max. 100 people. It is required to maintain records of customers.
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, capacity is limited max. 6 people.
  • In case entry is not allowed to all people (basis).

Stores and services

  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OP category, capacity is limited to maximum 1 customer per 15m2 of the total store sales area.
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the “OTP” and “all people (basis)” category, capacity is limited to maximum 1 customer per 25m2 of the total store sales area.  Only essential stores and services remain open.
  • Shopping centres are only open for vaccinated people or people who have recovered from COVID-19 (OP).

Museums, galleries and exhibition halls

  • In case entry is restricted to fully vaccinated people and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease (OP) only, no capacity restrictions apply.
  • Museums, galleries and exhibitions halls are not allowed to operate in the people falling under the OTP category and the “all people” mode.

Cinemas

  • The following capacity restrictions apply:
  • In case entry is restricted to fully vaccinated and people who have overcome COVID-19 disease (OP), capacity is limited max. 100 people indoors.
  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OTP, capacity is limited max. 6 people.
  • Cinemas are not allowed to operate in the “all people” mode.

Service providers are required to keep records of customers.

3rd warning level – black zone

Face covering

Everyone must wear a respirator mask indoors. Face covering is mandatory in outdoor settings if the distance from other people is less than 2 metres.

Accommodation

  • The operator is prohibited from operating the accommodation facility. Exceptions are quarantine facilities and accommodation in connection with the exercise of the profession, accommodation of a long-term nature and only for groups of OP and OTP persons.
  • It is forbidden to operate accommodation facilities for a group of “basepersons, with the exception of quarantine facilities and long-term accommodation.

Hotels’ restaurants are open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Restaurants section. Wellness is open in strict compliance with the safety measures – see the Wellness section.

Wellness centres and spas

  • Not allowed.

Water parks, pools and swimming pools

  • Water parks and swimming pools are permitted to be open in the OP regime, with the capacity limited to maximum 10 people, who must be organized into a group in compliance with the COVID warning system for performing sports activities.
  • Water parks, pools and swimming pools are not allowed to operate in the “all people (basis)” mode and people falling under the OTP category.

Current measures at the Tatralandia and Bešeňová water parks.

Cable cars

  • In case cable cars and lifts are open to fully vaccinated people only, open air lifts can operate with no restrictions. The maximum capacity of cable cars is limited to 50 %. They must be well ventilated and disinfected after each ride.
  • In case entry is allowed to all people, including people falling under the OTP group, unvaccinated and untested people, only open air lifts can operate (no cable cars). Wearing a respirator mask is compulsory.
  • Hygiene measures must be observed.

Restaurants

  • In case restaurants are open only take-away and delivery services are permitted.

Fitness centres

  • Not allowed.

  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OP category, maximum 1 customer per 15 m2 of the total store sales area is allowed.
  • In case entry is allowed to OTP category and all people (basis), maximum 1 customer per 25 m2 of the total store sales area is allowed. Only essential services are available and there are special shopping hours for seniors.
  • Shopping centres are only open for vaccinated people or people who have recovered from COVID-19 (OP).

Museums, galleries and exhibition halls

  • In case entry is restricted to people falling under the OP category, only individual tours are allowed and capacity is limited to 1 person per 15 square meters.
  • Museums, galleries and exhibitions halls are not allowed to operate in the “all people” mode and people falling under the OTP category.

Cinemas

The following capacity restrictions apply:

  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OP category, capacity is limited to max. 50 people inside.
  • In case entry is allowed to people falling under the OTP category, capacity is limited to max. 6 people inside.
  • Cinemas are not allowed to operate in the “all people” mode.

Service providers are required to keep records of customers.
