Mt Chopok, Nízke Tatry

Chopok is the second highest peak of the Low Tatras. It lies in their main ridge, in the geomorphological subdivision of the Ďumbie Tatras between the peaks of Dereš and Ďumbier. In the north, it has steep precipice walls divided by channels and pillars, which in the northeast fall into the boiler of Lukova dolina with moraine deposits and a lake, in the south it has boulder fields.

Chopok (2024 m above sea level) is one of the most popular peaks of the Low Tatras. The cable car to Chopok runs all year round and in the summer season of 2023 is accessible from both the north and the south without barriers, thanks to the new A6 cable car, which won two awards in the Construction of the Year 2022 competition. Head from Chopok to Ďumbier, Dereše, or Štefánik’s cottage.

When the weather is good, there are wonderful views from Chopek!
