Shepherding and Pastoralism in Liptov

Over 500 years ago, shepherding culture arrived in our Liptov. Sheep farming and shepherding play an irreplaceable role. They brought with them several unique aspects, whether in the appearance of our hills, in customs and traditions, or in the products themselves. Shepherding is an inseparable part of Liptov, and we decided to explore it more in depth. People from the “trade” told us about how shepherding works today, which sheep are further bred, how traditional culture has been preserved, and how challenging it is to live for a few months in the wilderness.
