Unexplored Liptov – Liptov Traditions

Liptov is not only about magnificent mountains but also about beautiful traditions and folk costumes. When nature and folklore come together, it creates a true spectacle, a stunning show. This year, as part of the Unexplored Liptov project, we experienced two traditions that are accessible to ordinary people and retain their authenticity. These were the spring welcoming in Važec with the procession “O milienci chodia” and the burning of St. John’s fires and “jánske čarovačky” in the village of Galovany. Both days were truly unique events that you shouldn’t miss next year! In this video, you’ll see the perfect combination of beautiful girls and brave young men, Liptov folk costumes, surrounding views, and traditional folk songs. Folklore here still lives and endures, and even if you missed the spring welcoming or the summer solstice, you can still get moving and enjoy the Liptov traditions.
