And then there is the Bel\u00e1. For most of the year it appears unremarkable \u2013 and then, for a few weeks, it comes to life and reveals its true character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each spring, snow begins to melt in the Tatras. The mountains gradually release water into the valleys and the Bel\u00e1 changes. From a calm flow, it becomes a wild mountain river that finds its own course, shifts gravel, changes its banks and creates entirely new channels. It is never the same as the year before. \u2013 one that does <\/span><strong>not have a single fixed channel<\/strong>. The river here is not regulated. It follows its own course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>On its banks grows German tamarisk, a rare shrub that depends on these chaotic conditions. In its waters live <\/span><strong>Danube salmon<\/strong><span>, and <\/span><strong>on the gravel deposits it is possible to find traces of otters<\/strong>.The Bel\u00e1 is not only a river. It is  something to experience.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><span>When the water level rises and the flow reaches suitable conditions, a short period begins that <\/span><strong>rafters wait for all year<\/strong><span>. The season lasts only a few weeks, most often <\/span><strong>in April and May<\/strong>, before the river becomes calm again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span>During this time, the Bel\u00e1 becomes one of the <\/span><strong>most beautiful rafting rivers in Slovakia<\/strong><span>.Cold Tatra water, waves between boulders, a fast current and views of Kriv\u00e1\u0148 create <\/span><strong>an experience that bears no comparison with artificial channels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is not only about adrenaline. It is about contact with an unregulated natural environment.
