But Liptovsk\u00e1 Mara hides much more \u2013 dramatic history, a unique construction, and immense importance for Liptov as well as for the whole of Slovakia.\u00a0Liptovsk\u00e1 Mara has been serving its purpose for 50 years. The reservoir is part of the system of dams known as the V\u00e1h Cascade. \ud83c\udfd8\ufe0f The construction of Liptovsk\u00e1 Mara changed the lives of thousands of people who had to relocate and find new homes because of the new waterworks.
