The Liptov region is an excellent choice for a holiday. It\u2019s a beautiful area that offers plenty of ways for you to actively spend your free time and truly enjoy the countryside. Liptov is particularly popular with families because of the sheer diversity and range of activities available. Those who like to be active on holiday and want to experience something new every day will find plenty to do here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Perhaps the most visited valley in Liptov is Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Valley<\/strong><\/a>. It\u2019s best known for the  Jasn\u00e1<\/a> <\/strong>ski resort, but there are many other interesting attractions to explore here. If you\u2019re a family planning to take the children on a holiday or an outing in Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Valley, here are some tips to help you and your kids enjoy the area to the fullest. \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take your buggy on the cable car to Chopok<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

All summer long, you can hop on the<\/span> cable car to Chopok<\/a><\/strong> (2,024 m above sea level) in the Low Tatras. Board at Biela P\u00fa\u0165 station and let the chair lift and cable car take you smoothly up to the Rotunda beneath Chopok. You can easily take a buggy with you, too! A word of warning \u2013 if you\u2019re set on reaching the top of Chopok, you might want to wait until the kids are old enough to handle the climb. Bigger children can comfortably manage the moderate hiking along the ridge of the Low Tatras to the highest peak <\/span>\u010eumbier<\/a> <\/strong>(2,045.9 m above sea level). Alternatively, take the stone path on the opposite side towards Dere\u0161e (2,003.5 m above sea level), from where you can enjoy great views of both Liptov and Horehronie.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Priehyba Jasn\u00e1 sheep farm<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On the way, don\u2019t forget to stop off at Priehyba<\/strong><\/a>, where, in the summer, you\u2019ll find a rare species of Wallachian sheep on the highest traditional mountainside sheep farm<\/strong><\/a> in Slovakia. This is an indigenous breed that has historically been bred here because it is the only sheep that can graze in the difficult mountainous terrain. As with any good sheep farm, you\u2019ll also find a shepherd and a number of dogs on hand to keep watch over the sheep. Priehyba is a great place for children to have fun and playfully explore what life on a mountainside sheep farm was like. They can pick up a Wally the Sheep\u2019s Travel Journal at the information centre or Funibar. If they do the tasks and complete the form they will get a prize. New for summer 2024 is a ball run that will appeal to all ages. Simply purchase a ball from Funibar, place it at the top of the wooden track and watch it complete the obstacle course. You then get to keep the ball as a souvenir. If the kids still haven\u2019t had enough, you can l<\/a><\/strong>et them loose on attractions<\/strong><\/a> such as tubing, bungee trampolines, an electric train and mini cars next to the information centre at Biela P\u00fa\u0165.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Vrbick\u00e9 pleso<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s by no means all the family fun that Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Valley has to offer. For a lovely stroll, don\u2019t miss Vrbick\u00e9 pleso<\/strong><\/a>, a serene mountain lake with a surrounding trail. There are benches, a playground, and a spot to feed the ducks. You can also pop by Mikul\u00e1\u0161sk\u00e1 chata<\/strong><\/a>, which boasts a fantastic playground and great food. The lake trail is also accessible with a sturdy buggy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For amazing views in Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Valley, head to Benc\u00farova ve\u017ea, a wooden observation tower at Ostredok<\/strong><\/a>. Further along the trail, you\u2019ll find a symbolic cemetery dedicated to the victims of mountain accidents in the Low Tatras.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This is a short, easy walk with engaging stops where kids can learn new and interesting things. The valley is also home to the Dem\u00e4novka River, the inspiration behind the Story of Water trail<\/strong><\/a>. This trail, starting at the valley entrance and following the course of the river, is designed for families. At the entrance to Dem\u00e4novsk\u00e1 Valley, near Pav\u010dina Lehota, you\u2019ll find \u017diarce Fun Park<\/strong>.<\/a> Hop on a toboggan with the kids for an exhilarating ride on Slovakia\u2019s steepest toboggan run. There are also quad bikes, a giant swing, a kids\u2019 fun zone, and other attractions. A short walk away along the dirt road over the fields, you\u2019ll find another observation tower offering stunning views of Liptov.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

V informa\u010dnom centre alebo vo Funibare dostan\u00fa Denn\u00edk Cesty ove\u010dky Vala\u0161ky s \u00falohami<\/strong> a za vyplnen\u00fd formul\u00e1r z\u00edskaj\u00fa pekn\u00fa odmenu. Novinkou leta 2024 je gu\u013e\u00f4\u010dkov\u00e1 dr\u00e1ha, ktor\u00e1 oslov\u00ed nielen deti, ale aj dospel\u00fdch. Sta\u010d\u00ed si vo Funibare zak\u00fapi\u0165 gu\u013e\u00f4\u010dku, vhodi\u0165 ju na za\u010diatok drevenej dr\u00e1hy a sledova\u0165, ako prekon\u00e1va prek\u00e1\u017eky. Guli\u010dka v\u00e1m nesk\u00f4r ostane ako suven\u00edr. This is an indigenous breed that has historically been bred here because it is the only sheep that can graze in the difficult mountainous terrain. As with any good sheep farm, you\u2019ll also find a shepherd and a number of dogs on hand to keep watch over the sheep. Priehyba is a great place for children to have fun and playfully explore what life on a mountainside sheep farm was like. They can pick up a Wally the Sheep\u2019s Travel Journal at the information centre or Funibar. If they do the tasks and complete the form they will get a prize. New for summer 2024 is a ball run that will appeal to all ages. Simply purchase a ball from Funibar, place it at the top of the wooden track and watch it complete the obstacle course. You then get to keep the ball as a souvenir.
