The synagogue is one of <\/span>the most beautiful and interesting cultural monuments in Ru\u017eomberok<\/strong>. It is located in the city centre, on Pansk\u00e1 street, near the confluence of the V\u00e1h and Rev\u00faca rivers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The synagogue was built in the Neo-Romanesque, Moorish style. Only the aron qodesh and rare chandeliers have been preserved from the original furnishings. The aron qodesh is an ornamental chamber in synagogues. It is loosely placed on the eastern wall of the synagogue facing towards Jerusalem. On its edges there are two pillars that resemble the Pillars of Solomon at the entrance to the Temple in Jerusalem. Inside the building there are two side spiral staircases and, on the first floor, a three-sided gallery. In the interior, it is also worth noting the ornamental decoration of the vaults.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The synagogue was built according to the model of the Miskolc Synagogue in 1880, and served as a prayer room for the Jewish religious community. One unexpected event during its construction was when the scaffolding burned down. During the Second World War, the Jewish religious community ceased to exist and the synagogue thus lost its original purpose. During the war, it also served as an army warehouse and, from 1945, was used as a warehouse for cotton factories. The building fell into disrepair for many years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Extensive reconstruction in 2013 and 2014 transformed the abandoned synagogue into a cultural centre that regularly hosts exhibitions, concerts, theatre performances and other cultural events.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

Synag\u00f3ga je postaven\u00e1 v novorom\u00e1nskom slohu, v maurskom \u0161t\u00fdle. Z p\u00f4vodn\u00e9ho zariadenia sa zachovali iba Aron ha-kode\u0161 a vz\u00e1cne lustre. Aron ha-kode\u0161 je sv\u00e4tost\u00e1nok, ktor\u00fd b\u00fdva v synag\u00f3gach. Je vo\u013ene pristaven\u00fd na v\u00fdchodnej stene synag\u00f3gy smerom k Jeruzalemu. Na jeho okrajoch s\u00fa dva st\u013apy, ktor\u00e9 pripom\u00ednaj\u00fa \u0160alam\u00fanov\u00e9 st\u013apy pri vstupe do jeruzalemsk\u00e9ho Chr\u00e1mu. Vo vn\u00fatri budovy s\u00fa dve bo\u010dn\u00e9 to\u010dit\u00e9 schodisk\u00e1 a na poschod\u00ed je trojstrann\u00e1 empora. V interi\u00e9ri stoj\u00ed za pov\u0161imnutie aj ornament\u00e1lna v\u00fdzdoba klenieb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Budova bola postaven\u00e1 pod\u013ea vzoru synag\u00f3gy v Mi\u0161kolci v roku 1880 a sl\u00fa\u017eila ako modliteb\u0148a pre \u017eidovsk\u00fa n\u00e1bo\u017eensk\u00fa obec. Pri jej v\u00fdstavbe sa stala ne\u010dakan\u00e1 udalos\u0165, zhorelo toti\u017eto le\u0161enie. Po\u010das druhej svetovej vojny do\u0161lo k z\u00e1niku \u017eidovskej n\u00e1bo\u017eenskej obce a synag\u00f3ga prestala sl\u00fa\u017ei\u0165 svojmu p\u00f4vodn\u00e9mu \u00fa\u010delu. Po\u010das vojny sl\u00fa\u017eila aj ako arm\u00e1dny sklad, od roku 1945 bola vyu\u017e\u00edvan\u00e1 ako sklad bavln\u00e1rskych z\u00e1vodov. Budova dlh\u00e9 roky ch\u00e1trala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Na jej obrze\u017cach znajduj\u0105 si\u0119 dwa s\u0142upy, kt\u00f3re przypominaj\u0105 kolumny Salomona z wej\u015bcia do \u015awi\u0105tyni Jerozolimskiej. Wewn\u0105trz budynku mieszcz\u0105 si\u0119 dwie boczne kr\u0119te klatki schodowe, a na pierwszym pi\u0119trze usytuowane jest tr\u00f3jstronne emporium. Obiekt zosta\u0142 zbudowany w 1880 roku na wz\u00f3r synagogi w Miszkolcu i s\u0142u\u017cy\u0142 jako dom modlitwy dla \u017cydowskiej gminy wyznaniowej. W trakcie jego budowy mia\u0142o miejsce dramatyczne zdarzenie \u2013 sp\u0142on\u0119\u0142o rusztowanie. Podczas II wojny \u015bwiatowej \u017cydowska gmina wyznaniowa przesta\u0142a istnie\u0107 i synagoga utraci\u0142a swoj\u0105 pierwotn\u0105 funkcj\u0119. W okresie wojennym obiekt by\u0142 wykorzystywany m.in. jako magazyn wojskowy, a od 1945 r. s\u0142u\u017cy\u0142 jako magazyn prz\u0119dzalni bawe\u0142ny. Po gruntownej przebudowie w latach 2013-2014 opuszczony obiekt synagogi przekszta\u0142cono w centrum kultury.
