<\/span>The Roman-Catholic parish church of St. Andrew is the oldest sacral building in Ru\u017eomberok, its origins date back to the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries. Preserved from that period is the beam-shaped four-storey tower (the first thing one notices when looking at the church).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is situated in the centre of the town, at A. Hlinka Square, right next to the town hall building. The church is located above the confluence of rivers V\u00e1h and Rev\u00faca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the square, as well as the church, are situated on a natural elevated terrace, the church with the balustrades below become a visually dominant element of the town, which can be found in almost every postcard of Ru\u017eomberok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside the church, one can notice a massive Gothic baptistery from the 16th century, made of stone, and worth the attention are also the stained-glass windows in the south nave of the church. Those were created by an important Ru\u017eomberok\u2019s native \u2013 master \u013dudov\u00edt Fulla. They depict scenes from the lives of Jesus Christ and Virgin Mary. One of the stained-glass works is dedicated to the 1,100th anniversary of the consecration of the first Christian temple in our territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also available for viewing in the church are the paintings by E. Mass\u00e1nyi and A. Belopotocky. Worth greater attention is the painting of Adoration of Shepherds. The scene is dominated by the figure of Virgin Mary wearing a white scarf, a red dress and a blue cloak, in front of her, there is a child lying on hay on a pedestal and Mary is wrapping the child in a white blanket. There are other paintings as well, such as the Annunciation to Virgin Mary or the Sacrificing of Baby Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the greatest attractions of the church is its bell, Andrew. It is <\/span>the oldest bell in Liptov<\/strong>, it was cast in 1506 by a bell founder from Bansk\u00e1 Bystrica, A. Sladi\u010d. Its value is increased by its dated inscription and documented authorship.<\/p>\n\n\n

The main altar of St. Andrew, the side altars of Virgin Mary and St. Anton Padu\u00e1nsky, as well as the altar of St. J\u00e1n Nepomuck\u00fd in the side chapel, were made by sculptor J. Kraus from Bansk\u00e1 \u0160tiavnica, the altar of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the south nave comes from the South Tyrolean workshop of F. Stuflesser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The church was originally built in early Gothic style, later it was altered in Renaissance style and Baroque style. Originally, it was consecrated to St. Ladislav and it was hit by several fires. In 1662, the tower clock was made in Martin Roxer\u2019s workshop in \u013dup\u010da. In the 17th century, it belonged to the Protestants for several years, definitive Catholic ownership dates from 1709. The 19th century additions to the church were the chapel of Saint J\u00e1n Nepomuck\u00fd, the sacristy and the Chapel of the Holy Sepulcher. A smaller staircase tower was added to the robust Gothic tower. After that, the church looked more or less how it looks today. In 1905, Andrej Hlinka was appointed the pastor and he preached in the church until the end of his life in 1938. In 1940, the church was altered to commemorate Andrej Hlinka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below the south nave of the church, there is a Mausoleum of Andrej Hlinka, and near the church, in front of the town hall, you can see the Marian Column of the Immaculate from 1858.<\/p>\n\n\n

Nach\u00e1dza sa v centre mesta, na N\u00e1mest\u00ed A. Hlinku, hne\u010f ved\u013ea budovy radnice. Kostol stoj\u00ed nad s\u00fatokom riek V\u00e1h a Rev\u00faca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ke\u010f\u017ee n\u00e1mestie aj kostol s\u00fa na vyv\u00fd\u0161enej prirodzenej terase, kostol spolu s balustr\u00e1dami pod n\u00edm je vizu\u00e1lnou dominantou mesta a nech\u00fdba takmer na \u017eiadnej ru\u017eomberskej poh\u013eadnici.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V kostole m\u00f4\u017eete vidie\u0165 mas\u00edvnu gotick\u00fa kamenn\u00fa krstite\u013enicu zo 16. storo\u010dia a za pozornos\u0165 stoja aj okenn\u00e9 vitr\u00e1\u017ee v ju\u017enej lodi kostola. Tieto s\u00fa dielom v\u00fdznamn\u00e9ho ru\u017eombersk\u00e9ho rod\u00e1ka \u2013 majstra \u013dudov\u00edta Fullu. S\u00fa na nich zobrazen\u00e9 sc\u00e9ny zo \u017eivota Je\u017ei\u0161a Krista a Panny M\u00e1rie. Jedna z vitr\u00e1\u017e\u00ed je venovan\u00e1 1 100. v\u00fdro\u010diu posv\u00e4tenia prv\u00e9ho kres\u0165ansk\u00e9ho chr\u00e1mu na na\u0161om \u00fazem\u00ed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

V kostole si m\u00f4\u017eete prezrie\u0165 aj obrazy od maliarov E. Mass\u00e1nyiho a A. Belopotock\u00e9ho. V\u00e4\u010d\u0161iu pozornos\u0165 si zasl\u00fa\u017ei obraz Kla\u0148anie pastierov. Sc\u00e9ne dominuje postava Panny M\u00e1rie v bielej \u0161atke, \u010dervenom \u0161ate a modrom pl\u00e1\u0161ti, pred \u0148ou na podstavci spo\u010d\u00edva na slame die\u0165atko, ktor\u00e9 M\u00e1ria vije do bielej r\u00fa\u0161ky. Nach\u00e1dzaj\u00fa sa tu aj in\u00e9 obrazy, ako napr\u00edklad Zvestovanie Panne M\u00e1rii \u010di Obetovanie Je\u017ei\u0161ka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jednou z najv\u00e4\u010d\u0161\u00edch zauj\u00edmavost\u00ed kostola je jeho zvon Andrej. Ten je najstar\u0161\u00edm zvonom na Liptove,<\/strong> uliaty bol v roku 1506 banskobystrick\u00fdm zvonolej\u00e1rom A. Sladi\u010dom. Jeho hodnotu zvy\u0161uje n\u00e1pis s datovan\u00edm a dolo\u017een\u00fdm autorstvom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n[read-more]\n\n\n\n

Hlavn\u00fd olt\u00e1r sv. Ondreja, bo\u010dn\u00e9 olt\u00e1re Panny M\u00e1rie a sv. Antona Padu\u00e1nskeho, ako aj olt\u00e1r sv. J\u00e1na Nepomuck\u00e9ho v bo\u010dnej kaplnke vyhotovil soch\u00e1r J. Kraus z Banskej \u0160tiavnice, olt\u00e1r Bo\u017esk\u00e9ho srdca Je\u017ei\u0161ovho v ju\u017enej lodi je pr\u00e1cou juhotirolskej dielne F. Stuflessera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kostol bol p\u00f4vodne ranogotick\u00fd, nesk\u00f4r bol renesan\u010dne a barokovo upraven\u00fd. P\u00f4vodne bol zasv\u00e4ten\u00fd sv. Ladislavovi a postihlo ho nieko\u013eko po\u017eiarov. V roku 1662 boli v \u013eup\u010dianskej dielni Martina Roxera vyhotoven\u00e9 ve\u017eov\u00e9 hodiny. V 17. storo\u010d\u00ed patril nieko\u013eko rokov aj protestantom, katol\u00edkom definit\u00edvne pripadol v roku 1709. V 19. storo\u010d\u00ed ku kostolu pribudla kaplnka sv\u00e4t\u00e9ho J\u00e1na Nepomuck\u00e9ho, sakristia a Kaplnka Bo\u017eieho hrobu. K mohutnej gotickej ve\u017ei pristavili men\u0161iu schodiskov\u00fa ve\u017eu. Kostol tak z\u00edskal pribli\u017ene dne\u0161n\u00fa podobu. V roku 1905 bol zvolen\u00fd za far\u00e1ra Andrej Hlinka a v kostole sl\u00fa\u017eil a\u017e do konca svojho \u017eivota v roku 1938. V roku 1940 bol kostol upraven\u00fd v s\u00favislosti s pripomienkou Andreja Hlinku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
