Tatra National Park is the oldest national park in Slovakia. It consists of the highest mountain group in the Carpathian arc with the highest peak – Gerlachovsk\u00fd peak(2655 m above sea level). It is divided into 2 basic subunits – Eastern Tatras (High and Belianske) and Western Tatras. The length of the High Tatras is 26 km, Belianske Tatras 14 km and Western Tatras 37 km. The territory of the national park covers an area of 73,800 ha, its protection zone 30,703 ha. It is located in the \u017dilina and Pre\u0161ov regions in the districts of towns Tvrdo\u0161\u00edn, Liptovsk\u00fd Mikul\u00e1\u0161, Poprad and Ke\u017emarok.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tatra National Park is bordered on the north by the Polish Tatrza\u0144ski Park Narodowy, with which it forms a bilateral cross-border protected area. The beauty of the Tatra nature and its invaluable value was the reason for the inclusion of the national park area in 1993 by a UNESCO decision in the network of biosphere reserves within the MaB (Man and Biosphere) program. The highest values are the network of small protected areas, which is represented by 27 national nature reserves, 23 nature reserves, 2 protected areas, 1 national natural monument and 2 natural monuments with a total area of 37,551.53 ha, which is 50.7% of the national park area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Tatra National Park (TANAP) is also included in the NATURA 2000 system. On the territory of TANAP, there is an area of European importance SK\u00daEV0307 Tatry and a protected bird area CHV\u00da030 Tatry. The aim of the NATURA 2000 system is to maintain or improve the favourable status of rare and endangered species of plants, animals and natural habitat types and thus to preserve biodiversity in the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The territory of the national park serves, in addition to its main mission, which is the protection of extraordinary natural values of the territory, also for the needs of recreation, sports, cognition, treatment and tourism. Annually almost 3.5 million visitors visit the park and the network of hiking trails is about 600 km long. Kr\u00e1sa tatranskej pr\u00edrody a jej neocenite\u013en\u00e1 hodnota bola d\u00f4vodom pre zaradenie \u00fazemia n\u00e1rodn\u00e9ho parku v roku 1993 rozhodnut\u00edm UNESCO do siete biosf\u00e9rick\u00fdch rezerv\u00e1ci\u00ed v r\u00e1mci programu MaB (\u010clovek a biosf\u00e9ra). Najv\u00e4\u010d\u0161ie hodnoty tvoria sie\u0165 maloplo\u0161n\u00fdch chr\u00e1nen\u00fdch \u00fazem\u00ed, ktor\u00fa predstavuje 27 n\u00e1rodn\u00fdch pr\u00edrodn\u00fdch rezerv\u00e1ci\u00ed, 23 pr\u00edrodn\u00fdch rezerv\u00e1ci\u00ed, 2 chr\u00e1nen\u00e9 are\u00e1ly, 1 n\u00e1rodn\u00e1 pr\u00edrodn\u00e1 pamiatka a 2 pr\u00edrodn\u00e9 pamiatky s celkovou v\u00fdmerou 37 551,53 ha \u010do je 50,7% \u00fazemia n\u00e1rodn\u00e9ho parku.<\/p>\n
Tatransk\u00fd n\u00e1rodn\u00fd park je zaraden\u00fd aj do s\u00fastavy NATURA 2000. Na \u00fazem\u00ed TANAP-u sa nach\u00e1dza \u00fazemie eur\u00f3pskeho v\u00fdznamu SK\u00daEV0307 Tatry a chr\u00e1nen\u00e9 vt\u00e1\u010die \u00fazemie CHV\u00da030 Tatry. Cie\u013eom s\u00fastavy NATURA 2000 je udr\u017eanie alebo zlep\u0161enie priazniv\u00e9ho stavu vz\u00e1cnych a ohrozen\u00fdch druhov rastl\u00edn, \u017eivo\u010d\u00edchov a prirodzen\u00fdch typov biotopov a t\u00fdm zachovanie biodiverzity na \u00fazem\u00ed \u0161t\u00e1tov E\u00da.<\/p>\n
\u00dazemie n\u00e1rodn\u00e9ho parku sl\u00fa\u017ei okrem svojho hlavn\u00e9ho poslania, ktor\u00fdm je ochrana mimoriadnych pr\u00edrodn\u00fdch hodn\u00f4t \u00fazemia, aj pre potreby rekre\u00e1cie, \u0161portu, pozn\u00e1vania, lie\u010dby a turistiky. Ro\u010dne nav\u0161t\u00edvi n\u00e1rodn\u00fd park takmer 3,5 mil. n\u00e1v\u0161tevn\u00edkov, sie\u0165 turistick\u00fdch chodn\u00edkov m\u00e1 d\u013a\u017eku cca 600 km.
