Detailed route description

The village of Východná is a typical Liptov village mainly known for folklore traditions. In the village there is a unique amphitheatre complex, where the oldest nationwide folk art festival in Slovakia – Folk Festival Východná – is celebrated annually. The area features a 28-meter tall observation tower named „Májka“ which provides a scenic view of the whole area, the village and the panorama of the High, Western and Low Tatras. There is also a permanent wooden sculpture exposition in the area.

The observation tower can be reached directly from the free car park situated at the amphitheater.

The village of Východná can also be reached by train or bus from Liptovský Mikuláš or Liptovský Hrádok. The amphitheatre is located directly behind the village.

Options for accommodation and meals

Food and accommodation facilities are available in the village, and during the festival also around the amphitheatre area.
